Frequently asked questions
- How does a request work?
- You fill in the form. I reply within 24 hours with a quote matched to your event. We talk through your venue, your timing and what you have in mind. Then I come on the day.
- Where do you travel?
- I am based in Paris and I travel. Travel costs are included in the Paris region and charged separately elsewhere. Tell me where your event is held and I will tell you whether it works.
- How far in advance should I book?
- For close-up or a stage act, write to me as soon as you have your date. For a bespoke creation, allow two weeks to two months of design before the event.
- How much does it cost?
- There is no single rate: the price depends on the format, the length and the venue. The quote is free and commits you to nothing. A booking is confirmed with a 30 % deposit, and the terms are set out in the quote.
- Is this a children's show?
- My shows are written for an adult audience: weddings, private parties, birthdays and corporate events. That does not mean children find them dull, quite the opposite. If your event includes some, a slot devoted to them can be added to the booking.
- What do you need on site?
- Access to water. For close-up, nothing else: I work standing, among your guests. For a stage act, a space of at least 3 × 5 metres and a power socket depending on the act. No minimum ceiling height.
- How early do you arrive?
- One hour before for close-up, three hours for a stage act. Preparation happens backstage, thirty minutes in one case, two hours in the other. On the night, the setup your guests can see takes five minutes.
- Can it be done outdoors?
- Bubble sculptures need a precision that the slightest draught makes impossible, so they are performed indoors. Outside, I offer close-up magic, which can be followed by bubbles once everyone is back inside.
- Can guests take part?
- Yes, and that is the strength of close-up: the bubbles appear in their own hands. I can perform during the meal, between courses, and come back several times in the evening.
- What if your guests do not speak French?
- I perform in French, in English, or without a word. The silent act works in front of any audience.
- Who provides the music?
- I bring my own. Music rights reporting remains the organiser's responsibility, as for any music played at an event.
- How are you dressed?
- Elegantly, and I adapt to the spirit of your evening if you ask me to.
- Does the product stain? Does the floor become slippery?
- I perform keeping the bubbles away from clothes and tables: it is something I watch from start to finish. On the floor, splashes stay small and controlled in close-up, and I bring a suitable floor covering for stage work. I have never had an allergy reported; if a guest has a known allergy, tell me beforehand.
- Does the smoke set off fire detectors?
- No. It is a vapour of the same kind as an electronic cigarette, in very small quantities. I can perform without it, but the result is markedly less striking.
- Do I need permission from the venue? Are you insured?
- No particular permission is needed. I carry professional liability insurance.
